Our story
Founded in 2007, SoNZ – Symbols of New Zealand & the Pacific has always been proudly New Zealand owned and operated.
What began with a few earrings has grown into a familiar favourite īn shops across New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Led by Sasha, whose Ngātiwai and Ngāpuhi heritage inspires many of our designs, SoNZ continues to celebrate local artistry and cultural connection.
In response to growing demand, we’ve launched our online store to make SoNZ pieces accessible to customers everywhere.
Made in New Zealand
Every SoNZ design is manufactured and assembled in-house, here in Aotearoa.
From laser engraving to the final hand polish, we manage each step ourselves to ensure exceptional quality and authenticity.
We’re committed to sustainable making - minimising waste and using recyclable materials wherever possible - and proud that each purchase supports real New Zealand families who are part of our SoNZ team.
The design process
Each SoNZ design begins with an icon inspired by the flowing forms of Aotearoa and the Pacific - blending Māori and Pasifika influences into modern, wearable art.
These icons carry stories of identity, connection, and belonging. Through thoughtful design, we honour and help preserve the cultural heritage that inspires us, keeping traditional artistry alive in a contemporary form.
Each piece celebrates where we come from while reflecting who we are today - Designed to be Noticed.
