In memory of Hugo

Hugo, a beautiful boy and our neighbour from Beachlands, faced a rare and aggressive childhood cancer with a courage that moved everyone around him.

When his best hope came down to a CAR T-cell clinical trial in the United States, one of only eight children in the world chosen for it at the time, the costs were far beyond what any family could carry alone. What happened next was extraordinary. Friends, family, neighbours, and thousands of New Zealanders who had never met the Donaldsons rallied together and helped send Hugo and his family to Houston for treatment.

The love that surrounded him, and the community that carried his family, is something we all hold close and aim to keep alive with the Hugo range.

Honouring Hugo

Hugo wasn't just our neighbour. He's one of our son's best friends, and part of our extended family. His mum, Sam, is a wonderful photographer who has captured many of the product photos you see across our site (only the good ones).

In honour of Hugo, and at the request of his parents, all profits from the Hugo range now go to the Child Cancer Foundation, supporting other tamariki and their families who are fighting cancer together.

For anyone who would like to support Hugo's parents directly, Sam's beautiful photography is available at editionsbysamantha.com.
